Kettlebottom Guide, Captain Jason Howell
Captain Jason Howell grew up fishing RI waters out of Apponaug on his father’s boat. This was the beginning of a life-long passion. Years later, he took the knowledge he gleaned from those old salts in Apponaug and applied them to his position on the Razin Kane charter boat out of Wickford Harbor run by Captain Sandy Kane.
Jason was also a fervent surfer, which brought him to develop a close friendship with Captain Robb Roach. Robb and Jason have fished RI together for years and have become a great team in the pursuit of outdoor adventures.
Jason’s experience led to the adventure of a lifetime when Captain Chris Donato, of Samoan Sport Fishing offered him the opportunity to captain the resort’s fishing boat to hunt pelagic fish, such as marlin and tuna, in the South Pacific. While in Western Samoa, he worked with the Billfish Foundation and an Educational Program in the Narragansett RI Pier School to tag and research Pacific billfish.
Whether he is fishing or surfing, his outdoor adventures with the Kettlebottom Team continues to be a great part of his life.
Captain Howell is a certified and insured boat captain and guide. His credentials include a Six-Passenger Captain’s License from the United States Coast Guard.
